    Tatra Chalet Hot Tea

    High Tatras

    PopularRegional drink

Hot herbal tea fortified with a measure of spirit, drunk in the High Tatras. A published Slovak recipe stirs 40 ml of Tatratea citrus liqueur with lemon juice, a pinch of salt and warm lemon herb tea in a mug.

A Slovak drinks guide says the Tatratea liqueur was inspired by a long-standing mountain custom of fortifying hot tea with spirits. No source fetched gives a date or a founder for the custom, so the tradition is documented only as a claim in a tertiary guide.

Made with: hot herbal tea, spirit or Tatratea tea liqueur, lemon juice, sweetener.
