About this place
The Fabled Pour is a digital cocktail destination created, written and hosted by Jewelle Lum. It is a publication, not a venue. There is no address, no door to knock on and no table to reserve. Jewelle herself can be booked for private engagements through the appointment book. The bar you can walk through on the home page is built from pixels and lamplight so that reading about drinks feels a little like being somewhere.
How recipes are labelled
Established classic means a drink with a documented history; its sources are listed at the foot of the page. House adaptation means a classic prepared the house way, with the change named. Fabled Pour concept means an original idea developed by the editorial team that Jewelle has not yet tested; the measures are a starting point. A concept becomes Original, tested by Jewelle only after she has made it, adjusted it and approved it.
How history is handled
Where the record is clear we cite it. Where origins are disputed we say which claims exist and how strong the evidence is. Folklore is kept, because it is part of the story, but it is labelled as folklore.
Drinking responsibly
Every recipe contains alcohol unless it says otherwise. Please enjoy them only where you are of legal drinking age, and never before driving. Approximate strength is shown where it can be estimated honestly. Non-alcoholic variations are offered when they genuinely work.
