Signature drinks and regional ones, with the evidence behind each. A drink marked non-alcoholic has no alcohol in the traditional serve.

    Hot Tuica

    PopularRegional drink

Plum brandy warmed on the stove with honey, peppercorns, cloves and a little cinnamon, sometimes with quince and apple slices. One Romanian recipe heats it in a small pot until steam rises, stirs in the honey, and takes it off the heat at the first sign of boiling.

A Romanian daily newspaper presents it as a warming drink for cold weather and quotes the late gastronome Radu Anton Roman on how the warm light of hot tuica helps people warm up on winter evenings. No source fetched dates the drink.

Made with: tuica (plum brandy), honey or sugar, black peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, quince and apple slices.
