Nicaragua
I have one sourced drink connected to Nicaragua. The label on each card says how: where it began, what the country is known for, what people drink there, or where the origin is disputed.
Drinks of Nicaragua
Signature drinks and regional ones, with the evidence behind each. A drink marked non-alcoholic has no alcohol in the traditional serve.

Macuá
IconicSignature drink
Nicaragua's national cocktail, built from white rum, guava juice, lemon juice and sugar. Uncommon Caribbean shakes it and strains it into an ice-filled highball glass with a lemon or orange garnish, while Wikipedia describes it as blended with ice and served chilled. It is named after the macua, a tropical bird.
Dr. Edmundo Miranda Saenz, a pediatrician from Granada, developed it with his family and won a national drink contest sponsored by the rum maker Flor de Cana in 2006. Wikipedia reports that more than twenty entries competed, and that El Nuevo Diario criticized the contest for favoring a few regions and for requiring at least 50 percent Flor de Cana in the winning recipe.
Made with: white rum (Flor de Cana), guava juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup.
