The Fabled Pour

Country

Denmark

I have one sourced drink connected to Denmark. The label on each card says how: where it began, what the country is known for, what people drink there, or where the origin is disputed.

Drinks of Denmark

Signature drinks and regional ones, with the evidence behind each. A drink marked non-alcoholic has no alcohol in the traditional serve.

    Kaffepunch

    IconicRegional drink

Hot black coffee with aquavit, measured by a coin: a coin goes in the bottom of the cup, a little coffee is poured, and aquavit is added until the coin shows again. It is a strong party drink.

Wikipedia gives kaffepunch as the Danish name for the same coffee and spirit drink that Norway calls karsk. A food site calls it a tradition and compares it to an energy drink of the 1800s, and neither source gives a date or inventor.

    Made with: black coffee, aquavit.
