    Hot Rakia

    PopularRegional drink

Rakia heated with honey and spices, drunk hot in winter. A Troyan producer heats plum brandy, plum honey, cloves, black pepper and orange peel in a copper cezve until it has boiled at least once and pours it into a ceramic cup.

A Bulgarian food site names greyana, the cooked rakia, as a popular way to serve rakia, and the Troyan distillery ties it to winter and to warming the body on cold days. No source fetched gives a date for the drink.

Made with: plum rakia, plum honey, cloves, black pepper, orange peel.
