Drinks of Belgium

Signature drinks and regional ones, with the evidence behind each. A drink marked non-alcoholic has no alcohol in the traditional serve.

    IconicRegional drink

A small glass of jenever dipped into a glass of lager. Wikipedia places it in Flanders and the south of the Netherlands, and the kopstoot is the version where the jenever glass stays beside the beer.

Wikipedia places the duikboot in Flanders and the south of Holland. Jenever has a 13th-century Flemish text describing juniper added to a distilled spirit and an Antwerp doctor's recipe from 1522. The sources give no date for the duikboot itself.

    Made with: jenever, lager beer.
